Movie Review: 7aam Arivu

7aam Arivu was one of the most anticipated movies of the year, directed by A.R.Murugadoss.

For the first half hour It starts off well exploring the Pallava dynasty around Kanchipuram 1600 years ago which was rich in medicine and martial arts at that point of time. It is here where we first meet Bodhi Dharmar (Suriya) a Pallava Prince who travels to China under his mothers instructions to spread his knowledge on medicine and martial arts. It takes him 3 years to finally reach China where an interesting life awaits him.

The present day portrays Suriya as Aravind a circus worker who hails from Kanchipuram himself. He is casual, playful and mindlessly falls in love with Subha Srinivasan (Shruti) a geneticist. Shruti does a good job as a geneticist but her Tamil accent is horrible at the least.

The first half of the film leads you to expect something big in the second half. But it all goes downhill from there. Operation red was a downright joke and the dialogues that explain it will tickle your funny bone rather than explain the plot and the way our protagonists deal with a national crisis makes you think "Dude! I have more brains than that!!!!". Realism is as rare as a Strawberry Tiger and logic goes right out the window in the second half where disappointment takes a major share among all the other feelings the film gives you.

The villan Dong Lee (Johnny Tri Nguyen) is one of the plus's of the film plays the role of a martial arts expert who can control minds. Believe it or not Dong lee actually gets more whistle's and claps than Suriya does.

Harris's Music generally aids the story line and adds a bit of spice to it but here it disrupts the plot and creates a sense of irritation. Removing the music would have helped the plot a bit.

Overall 7aam Arivu starts off well enough and ends with a large dose of disappointment.

Would I watch it again? I dont think so.
